What is a lift station and why do I need one?

Your home’s lift station is another key component to your septic system’s overall performance. Also known as a septic lift station pump, the lift station utilizes pumps that are responsible for sending fluid from the septic tank to the leach field when gravity is unable to do the job. Inside the lift station, where the sewage collects, there is a float. This float acts as a switch. When the tank fills, the switch triggers, and turns on the pump. If this switch or the pump fails, there is an alarm that will alert the homeowner to the trouble. If your septic lift station pump should sound its alarm, it is imperative to contact Zeb Watts Septic at (850) 826-2982 immediately!

How can I prevent lift station breakdown?

  • Don’t flush anything down the toilets other than human waste and toilet paper.
  • Don’t use a garbage disposal. (This can attract bugs and rodents)
  • Never pour cooking grease down any drain. Let grease cool and dispose of in the garbage.

We specialize in both Grinder Pumps & Solids Handling Pumps

  • Grinder Pumps – When waste from households flow through the home’s pipes into the grinder pump’s holding tank. Once the wastewater inside the tank reaches a specific level, the pump will turn on, grind the waste into a fine slurry, and pump it to the central sewer system or septic tank.
  • Solids Handling Pumps (Non-Clog Pumps) differ from grinder pumps in that, there is no solid accumulation or grinding of any kind, the solids are simply pushed through.
